Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled LPN / LVN / RN to join our team at the McDowell Center for Children, a 28-bed residential treatment facility for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to Mental Health Workers
  • Assist in collection and documentation of a comprehensive database
  • Administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician, physician's assistant or nurse practitioner
  • Provide structure to and assist in maintaining the therapeutic milieu
  • Directly intervene and assist the RN in psychiatric and/or medical crisis situations
  • Involved in activities of daily living in order to encourage positive behaviors and foster self-care
  • Adhere to all facility level of care and program policy and procedures
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing, diagnosis, and intervention with psychiatric patients
  • Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side effects
  • Knowledge of milieu
  • Ability to delegate responsibility to Mental Health Workers and monitor their performance
  • Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures
  • Skill in developing therapeutic relationships with adults, children, adolescents, and their families
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of LPN/RN/LVN nursing
  • Current Tennessee State Licensed Practical Nurse LPN licensure, LVN licensure or RN licensure
  • Experience preferred in field of Mental Health Nursing
