Job Description

The George Washington University is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising research at a high level, designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting, and developing tools and technologies to aid in our studies of histone deacetylases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct independent research, analyze and interpret data, publish results, and represent the university at conferences and meetings.
  • Develop new theories and methodologies, and lead and direct the work of junior research staff while transferring technical expertise.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings, bi-weekly research/publication meetings, collaborator meetings, and present and discuss research progress with the PI.
  • Write monthly progress reports and present them to key stakeholders.
Requirements

Qualified candidates will hold a Master's degree plus 5 years of experience or a PhD plus 2 years of experience in a related discipline, with at least 2 years of research and/or college-level teaching experience in a field basic to the work to be performed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical techniques, including experience with software such as R, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with experimental design and execution, including the ability to plan and conduct experiments, troubleshoot issues, and adapt protocols as needed to achieve research objectives.
