Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK. As a Child Life Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing comprehensive therapeutic and educational programs for pediatric patients and their families. Your goal will be to facilitate their positive adjustment to hospitalization and illness, while promoting socialization, growth, and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic programs for pediatric patients, including play therapy, art therapy, and other activities to promote socialization and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide interventions that address the psychological impact of hospitalization and illness on patients and their families.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on coping skills, stress management, and self-expression.
  • Work with patients to prepare them for medical interventions through play and discussion.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify the needs of patients and families, and develop individualized plans to address those needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a related field.
  • National Certified Child Life Specialist certification.
  • 2 years of experience as a Child Life Specialist.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
