Job Summary

Westminster College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Plant Operations and College Facilities Management to lead our Plant Operations Department and provide strategic leadership and oversight of our facilities and grounds. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our campus buildings, facilities, and grounds, as well as providing critical administrative and strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and leadership of the Plant Operations Department, including the development and implementation of short and long-term department goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders across campus, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for plant operations, facilities, and grounds, including the maintenance and refreshment of policies and operating procedures.
  • Supervise and direct the work of the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and Compliance, the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Custodial Services, and other staff members as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory laws, rules, and regulations, including OSHA, HEPA, DNR, ADA, and other pertinent requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external entities and outside agencies, including vendors and contractors, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide oversight and direction for the implementation and execution of strategic goals and action plans for the Plant Operations department and services in alignment with the College's overall strategic plan.
  • Prepare and oversee the Plant Operations budgets and contracts, and maximize the use of allocated resources and/or services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, operations and construction management, or relevant/related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7-10 years of progressive management experience leading the operations of a facilities department and a team of service workers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of facilities, construction, project oversight, maintenance, and operations.
  • Experience overseeing the management of operational budgets and work order processes.
  • Experience working in higher education is preferred but not required.
