About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Manager to join our team at SMS group Inc. in the Americas region. As a key member of our sales and marketing team, you will be responsible for promoting and selling our special products related to steelmaking, providing aftermarket support, and representing our company's interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain close relationships with our experts in steelmaking technology to stay up-to-date on the latest developments, installed references, and performance.
  • Work with our Sales Managers, Engineering Department, Automation department, and SMS Centers of Competence to determine which references will be used for equipment proposals and cost.
  • Manage proposal writing and editing for stand-alone proposals.
  • Coordinate aftermarket services with our relevant SMS group service centers.
  • Provide customer support and liaison for products installed in the Americas region.
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy for Americas region customers, including customer communications and visits.
  • Support Sales and Proposal engineers when incorporating our products into major project proposals.
  • Manage sales calls and attend sales functions as required.
  • Manage engineering and layout work for proposal preparation.
  • Manage proposal, metallurgical, and process calculations.
  • Coordinate project work with team members in the proposal stage.
  • Prepare and edit cost estimates for proposed projects.
  • Present technical proposals to prospective customers.
  • Present SMS group technology to prospective customers.
  • Coordinate with main vendors for proposal purposes.
  • Make inter-departmental or inter-company contacts concerning proposals.
  • Identify potential projects, select appropriate technologies, and develop technical and commercial specifications.
  • Manage project contracts in the Americas region, including customer and supplier liaison.
  • Approximately 25-35% travel required for customer and supplier visits or internal company meetings.
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgical degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years experience working with industrial steelmaking technology, in solidification, heat transfer, thermodynamics, heat processing/melting applications.
  • Steelmaking process engineering experience required.
  • Gas cleaning, combustion, and process design experience and competence a plus.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, display creativity, strong problem-solving skills, and work well in a diverse team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, with a strong emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
