Elementary Math Coach for School Transformation

The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a non-profit organization that aims to transform schools and revolutionize school systems to provide high-quality education to all students. As a contractor with the Los Angeles Unified School District, we serve 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.
About the PositionWe are seeking an Elementary Math Coach to join our mission to improve learning and academic achievement for students in the Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts communities. The ideal candidate will have a background in teaching, experience with elementary math instruction, and a passion for teacher development.
Responsibilities- Curriculum Development & Implementation (40%)
- Develop and execute priority initiatives for math instruction at Partnership schools
- Design and implement mathematics curricular materials, including curriculum maps, common assessments, and technology-connected learning programs
- Collaborate with school administration to support effective instruction of Common Core, ensuring systems are in place for the math team to be successful
- Teacher Coaching, Training, & Support (40%)
- Build teacher capacity to implement Common Core math instruction, including utilizing curriculum maps, planning from standards, and developing assessments
- Conduct regular classroom observations and facilitate coaching conversations with teachers to support growth and student learning
- Design and deliver school-specific professional development to support the delivery of math instruction and provide teachers with instructional resources related to Common Core
- Data & Impact (20%)
- Facilitate data inquiries to assess progress and needs of schools, teachers, and instructional initiatives, and support leaders and teachers in analyzing and responding to the data
- Work with school leaders to plan for and lead data cycles with grade-level or department teams of teachers
- A proven record of academic success working with students in historically underserved schools and setting high expectations for teachers and students
- At least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in grades K-6 and 2 years of school leadership experience (coaching, department chair, BTSA coach, peer observer, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree required, and a master's degree or other advanced degree preferred; in addition, a degree in mathematics and a teaching credential are strongly preferred
The starting salary range for external candidates is $92,829-$99,460. The Partnership offers a robust benefits package, including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement program, parental and sabbatical leaves, a professional development allowance, and generous paid time off.
