Elementary Literacy Coach for School Transformation and Development

The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a non-profit organization that aims to transform schools and revolutionize school systems to empower all students with a high-quality education. We serve 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts.
About the PositionWe are seeking an Elementary Literacy Coach to join our mission to improve learning and academic achievement for students in the Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts communities. The successful candidate will work onsite and partner with one school within our network to provide professional development to teachers, support teachers to develop and implement impactful curriculum in line with Common Core ELA standards, and collaborate with teachers to use data to improve learning goals and outcomes.
Responsibilities- Develop and oversee implementation of ELA curricular materials, including curriculum maps, common assessments, technology-connected learning programs, and other tools to support teachers and students in meeting Common Core standards.
- Collaborate with school administration to support effective instruction of Common Core, ensuring systems are in place for the literacy team to be successful.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and facilitate coaching conversations with teachers to support their growth and development.
- Design and deliver school-specific professional development to support the delivery of ELA instruction and provide teachers and leaders with instructional resources related to Common Core.
- A proven record of academic success working with students in historically underserved schools and setting high expectations for teachers and students.
- At least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in grades K-6 and 2 years of school leadership experience (coaching, teacher leader, department chair, BTSA coach, peer observer, etc.).
- Experience designing, leading, and facilitating professional development for adult learners, preferably elementary teachers.
- Deep working knowledge of ELA Common Core state standards, Instructional Shifts for Literacy, and Disciplinary Literacy.
The starting salary range for external candidates is $92,829-$99,460. The Partnership offers a robust benefits package, including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement program, parental and sabbatical leaves, a professional development allowance, and generous paid time off.
