Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified PT Instructor for Transition and Work Program to join our team at Foothill De Anza Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Tools for Transition and Work (TTW) Program, with a focus on Job Search Skills, Career Resources, Employment Issues, ADA and the Law, Job Training and Internship, Basic Computer Skills, Personal Development, and other vocational and educational classes for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in the TTW Program, with a focus on vocational and educational classes for students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Evaluate and assess student progress, providing feedback and guidance as needed.
  • Participate in the assessment of their performance, including administrative and student evaluations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement universal design principles in the classroom.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in the category of disability, special education, educational, psychology, education psychology, or rehabilitation counseling.
  • 15 semester units or 22.5 quarter units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, including Learning Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, Deaf and Hearing Impaired, Physical Disabilities, or Adapted Computer Technology.
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of teaching experience in an educational or vocational setting with persons with disabilities.
  • Experience working with assistive technology, such as text-to-speech, screen readers, and voice recognition.
  • Knowledgeable in the use and implementation of universal design in the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in an indoor, office environment, with regular standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods. The position requires hearing and speaking to exchange information, vision sufficient to read various materials, and dexterity of hands and fingers to perform tasks required of the position.
