About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for conducting highly visible work with a broad spectrum of responsibility, including technical support, consultation, and oversight through the performance of installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems. This role requires engagement in a shipboard industrial environment, meeting directly with ship's force, senior shipyard leadership, and Naval Reactors.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct technical support, consultation, and oversight of complex equipment and nuclear systems
- Perform installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and systems
- Engage with ship's force, senior shipyard leadership, and Naval Reactors in a shipboard industrial environment
- Identify and prevent problems to avoid impacts to cost and ship delivery schedules
- Provide technical direction for problem resolution and oversee compliance with contractual requirements
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or SRE qualified.
Preferred Skills- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in applying innovative solutions to resolve problems/improve performance
- Prior Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program operational or design experience is desired but not required
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities
- Experience working with US Navy Nuclear Fleet and/or nuclear capable shipyard

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
