Job Title: Controller

Bennington College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to lead its financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the College's accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the financial planning and budgeting process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the College's financial systems, including financial management software and accounting systems.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management, informing strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise and develop the Business Office team, ensuring effective and efficient financial operations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or a large non-profit environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and tax laws/regulations.
  • Strong financial reporting skills, including experience with financial management systems and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to mentor and develop internal talent.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (or equivalent) or CPA required.
