A licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides patient care and treatment in accordance with physician orders. This role works in a team environment and within the scope of practice as defined by the state. The LPN works under the direction of physicians and registered nurses (RNs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assesses patients by physical examination, including pertinent diagnostic testing to determine health status.
- Administers medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Participates in the care planning process to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Supervises licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Communicates with physicians regarding changes in patient conditions, diagnostic test results, and other relevant information.
- Documents patient assessments and care in compliance with standards of care and company policy.
- Educates patients and their families on health-related issues to promote patient empowerment and self-care.
- Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid state licensure as an LPN.
- Current CPR certification.
