Position Overview

Role Summary

City Parks Foundation has been a leader in providing hands-on educational experiences in environmental studies for over two decades, fostering connections between youth and natural spaces as dynamic learning environments. The organization is dedicated to engaging young individuals from underrepresented communities throughout the year via initiatives such as Seeds to Trees, Learning Gardens, Green Girls, Coastal Classroom, and High School Internships.

The organization is currently looking for a Part-Time Environmental Education Coordinator to facilitate the Coastal Classroom initiative. This role focuses on teaching middle school students about marine ecosystems, conservation practices, and environmental stewardship in an engaging outdoor setting. The coordinator will also oversee and guide high school and college interns while delivering educational activities for summer participants.

Compensation: $25 - $28 per hour
Season: Summer months

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of interns in daily program operations
  • Deliver educational instruction and facilitate engaging activities for middle school students in park settings
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Environmental Education and team members on curriculum design
  • Assist in program evaluation and student assessment methodologies
  • Manage educational materials and equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • At least two years of instructional experience
  • Experience engaging with middle school learners
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse student groups
  • Familiarity with Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Collaborative team member with a constructive attitude
  • New York State Driver's License preferred
  • Physically able to handle equipment and assist with boat logistics
