A Retail Operations Supervisor is expected to be a pivotal resource across all departments, exemplifying exceptional customer service, driving sales, and effectively resolving issues. In this role, you will collaborate with the management team to oversee store operations and specific departmental functions. Your expertise in departmental and store operations will be essential in delivering outstanding service to the academic and co-curricular community while ensuring that your designated area is well-maintained, appropriately merchandised, and operationally efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily management of the store alongside the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and the management team.
  • Serve as the Manager-on-Duty, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all store departments to provide support, direction, and guidance to both customers and team members, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
  • Utilize analytical skills and an understanding of the campus environment to effectively manage daily operations and make informed decisions.
  • Guide and assign tasks to team members, ensuring that multiple projects are executed properly and efficiently.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the sales floor to engage with customers, address inquiries, and assist with purchases of textbooks, merchandise, or services as needed.
  • Ensure an attractive sales floor by organizing, tagging, and cleaning products or spaces within the store.
  • Assist with processing sales transactions, including cash, credit, or financial aid payments when necessary.
  • Full-time positions require a commitment to work a minimum of 30 hours weekly throughout the year, with schedules that may vary to meet store needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement throughout the store to access various departments and products.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a retail environment as a manager or buyer, or completion of the Best Seller Program.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills to effectively match customers with products that meet their needs.
  • Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
