Position Overview: We are looking for a Hardware Reverse Engineer to become a vital part of our team in Arlington, Virginia. This role is ideal for individuals eager to engage in advanced research and reverse engineering of embedded technologies and systems.
As a Hardware Reverse Engineer, you will manage multiple research and reverse engineering initiatives simultaneously. Your expertise will be crucial in swiftly addressing a diverse array of reverse engineering challenges. If you possess a strong interest in cybersecurity and reverse engineering, or if you are keen to develop your skills in these areas, this position offers exceptional opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement innovative security applications tailored for embedded systems.
- Contribute to various research and development projects with a focus on enhancing embedded system security.
- Efficiently identify critical areas within complex systems.
- Rapidly prototype new technologies aimed at exploiting target systems.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments on fortified systems.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific field, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in the embedded security sector.
- Possession of an active US Security clearance at the Top Secret level, with the capability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience in reverse engineering wired and wireless networking protocols.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Linux on embedded hardware platforms, including debugging skills (JTAG/UART/Oscilloscopes/Logic Analyzers).
- At least 3 years of programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
- Strong analytical skills and a readiness to explore uncharted territories.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience collaborating within small R&D teams comprising researchers, engineers, and scientists.
- Background in firmware development.
- Expertise in RF technologies.
- Familiarity with Layer 1 and 2 wired and wireless protocols, including USB, SPI/I2C/1-Wire, Ethernet, PCI-Express, 802.11, and Bluetooth/ZigBee.
- Experience in hacking IoT products.
- Experience in managing technical teams and engineers.
- A willingness to lead and mentor a team of engineers.
Clearance Requirements:
- Active US Security clearance at the Top Secret level, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
