Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Powertrain Product Engineer II to join our team at Roush. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and releasing electric powertrain hardware, including high voltage battery systems, electric motors, and inverters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support HV system architecture layouts and hardware sizing activities
  • Selection and packaging of electric powertrain hardware, including high voltage battery systems, electric motors, and inverters
  • Design and develop HV junction boxes, including busbars, contactors, fuses, and relays
  • HV wire harness design, including component selection and routing
  • Apply relevant engineering analysis to create new component and subsystem designs to meet customer requirements
  • Work with CAD resources to develop 3D models and 2D prints
  • Work with CAE resources to analytically evaluate and validate design proposals
  • Develop and execute program-specific hardware test plans to validate function while maintaining relevant DVP&R documentation
  • Interface and coordinate with suppliers to deliver prototype parts and production solutions
  • Support prototype and pre-production build events
  • Support production launch for responsible components and systems
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Basic knowledge of product development tasks and cadence from concept to production
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of all powertrain subsystems, including IC engines, EV powertrain systems, and air induction and filtration systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical prints and assembly instructions, including working knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings while handling multiple assignments simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in xEV architecture design, hardware sizing, and high voltage electrical systems
  • Electrical hardware design or sizing and selection experience of components such as electric motors and inverters, high voltage battery systems, cables, busbars, fuses, contactors, and relays
  • Prior engineering experience in automotive, military, agricultural, or commercial truck industry with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Tier 1 supplier
