Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power and Energy Systems Engineer to join our team at The Pennsylvania State University. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced power systems for underwater and other unique applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model, design, fabricate, and test components, subsystems, and integrated systems
  • Evaluate, manufacture, and test energetic materials used in underwater power systems and/or chemical storage of hydrogen or oxygen
  • Execute technical project leadership, interfacing with internal management, program sponsors, and other stakeholders
  • Develop ideas and proposals for potential new programs
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with experience in design and analysis of chemical, mechanical, and/or electrical systems. A Master's degree or PhD in an Engineering or Science discipline is preferred.

Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency with modeling tools for chemical kinetics, phase equilibria, thermodynamics, or other analysis tools
  • Working knowledge of materials related to chemical generation and storage of hydrogen and oxygen
  • Experience with funding acquisition from various agencies, including but not limited to, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and SBIR/STTR
About the Role

This is a full-time position located on-site in State College, PA. The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
