We are seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team at Novant Health. The successful candidate will assist pathologists in the performance of autopsies, grossing a variety of small and large surgical specimens, and working directly with pathologists on special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist pathologists in the performance of autopsies and grossing of surgical specimens
  • Work directly with pathologists on special projects
  • Assist in the evaluation of new or modified techniques
  • Advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software

Requirements:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program or received and maintained ASCP Pathologists' Assistant certification prior to 2008
  • One year of relevant laboratory experience, including grossing and autopsy service
  • PA certification from ASCP

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of current medical terminology
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to work independently
