About the Role:

The Trust & Safety team at Vercel seeks a seasoned User Policy Senior Manager to join its ranks. Reporting to the Director of Safety, this individual will be based in the US, EU, or remotely.

This role involves collaborating with the Trust & Safety, Legal, and Abuse Operations teams to enhance policy, operations, escalations, incident management, terms of service, documentation, and user-facing resources. Our team will provide comprehensive onboarding, including product explanations, policies, processes, team structure, and roadmap discussions. You'll have the chance to learn, grow, and contribute immediately, leveraging your experience and knowledge to uplift the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Update internal trust & safety policies, workflows, and implementation to align with Vercel's current and future needs.
  2. Lead Trust & Safety's policy escalation program, resolving edge cases and creating answers to new questions from the Abuse Operations team and others.
  3. Represent Trust & Safety in company-wide incidents & escalations and establish coverage with the rest of the team.
  4. Pair with the T&S team and Abuse Operations team to implement policy in Abuse Operations workflows, aiming for industry-best standards; training and workflow evaluation are also essential tasks.
  5. Develop Vercel's external acceptable use policy and user-facing documentation.
  6. In certain situations, represent Vercel in external Trust & Safety communications.
About You:
  1. You possess 2+ years of experience in policy or user policy management (researching, writing, and implementing change) at a webhosting-based business.
  2. Hold 2+ years of experience in incident management and policy escalations.
  3. Hold experience working with user restriction systems, setting, tracking, and using KPIs to understand and optimize policy/operations outcomes.
  4. Have experience collaborating with an Abuse Operations team.
  5. Understand current and upcoming regulatory systems relevant to Trust & Safety work.
Bonus Qualifications:
  1. Experience in risk mitigation, conflict resolution, or product policy; familiarity with geo-politics related to trust & safety issues.
  2. Familiarity with SQL and creating SQL queries.
  3. Experience working with production ML systems, ticketing systems, and ticket labelling.
  4. Experience addressing elections/misinformation.

The estimated salary range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $200,000 - $225,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined by job-related skills, experience, and location. Pay scales may vary outside of San Francisco based on employee location. This total compensation package includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
