Position Overview:
This role is essential in delivering cleaning services that consistently align with cleanliness standards set by Quality Assurance evaluations across various campus facilities, including residence halls, academic spaces, and athletic venues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Housekeeping Duties (65%):
Perform cleaning, upkeep, and stocking of restrooms, public corridors, lobbies, offices, classrooms, locker rooms, and lounges to meet expected cleanliness standards. - Floor Care:
Vacuum and extract carpets; scrub, finish, and polish floors; and maintain furniture and woodwork. - Equipment Operation:
Utilize heavy-duty custodial equipment and manage key security at all times. - Grounds Maintenance:
Maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding grounds, including sweeping sidewalks and performing special cleaning tasks during breaks.
Utility Responsibilities (20%):
- Lock and unlock doors as required.
- Assist with event coverage, including setup and teardown.
- Inspect work areas and report any irregularities promptly.
- Manage trash and recycling removal as assigned.
- Respond to urgent cleaning needs as they arise.
Equipment Maintenance (5%):
Ensure custodial closets and utility rooms are clean, organized, and stocked. Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Snow and Ice Management (5%):
During inclement weather, maintain clean and dry lobby and hallway floors. Perform snow and ice removal using appropriate tools and spread de-icing materials as necessary.
Safety Compliance (5%):
Assist in adhering to local, state, and federal regulations regarding recycling, waste disposal, and safety standards. Participate in required training sessions and practice safe work habits.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. A valid driver's license is required, along with a safe driving record. Previous experience in housekeeping or event setups is advantageous.
Working Conditions:
This position may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including extreme weather, water, dust, and cleaning chemicals. Physical tasks include climbing, bending, lifting, and operating equipment for extended periods.
Mental Requirements:
Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow directions, and prioritize effectively. Must be able to read and understand safety sheets and work orders.
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to work overtime and adjust schedules as needed. Participation in on-call emergency rotations may be required. A positive and respectful attitude towards all members of the college community is essential.
