Job Description

CASA Inc. is seeking a skilled ESOL Teacher to lead our Life Skills Evening Program. This part-time, temporary position will cover the Fall Two 2024 class session from October 28th to December 19th. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging and practical lesson plans for working adults, teaching functional English grammar and conversation skills, and evaluating student progress. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, a TESOL certificate, and experience teaching ESOL or adult continuing education. The pay is $27 per hour with an average of 8 hours worked per week, and a $900 stipend will be provided at the end of the session. The position requires a flexible teaching style, the ability to accommodate a variety of learning styles, and a patient and respectful approach to working with learners of limited educational backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging and practical lesson plans for working adults
  • Teach functional English grammar and conversation skills
  • Evaluate student progress
  • Record and update class attendance and student data
  • Proctor and grade standardized assessments
  • Administer periodic quizzes and conduct information assessments
  • Keep students informed of CASA services and events
  • Outreach students with poor attendance
  • Maintain constant communication with program staff and other instructors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field
  • TESOL certificate and/or experience teaching ESOL or adult continuing education
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability
