Position Overview

This hands-on role facilitates ongoing enhancements and leadership functions for a designated warehouse team, typically comprising 6-10 team members. The individual in this position ensures that team members receive daily operational updates and directives essential for meeting warehouse goals. This role will also assist in the onboarding and training of new products as outlined by established procedures, contributing to the development of best practices. The Team Lead will act as a catalyst for change within the warehouse, promoting the execution of identified improvement initiatives through the use of fundamental lean and quality methodologies. The Team Lead will also be responsible for covering the responsibilities of other leads or team members as needed due to absences.



Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve production targets while fostering a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, lean practices, and environmental responsibility.
  • Ensure the consistent application of established procedures at each workstation through regular audits, coaching, and training.
  • Participate in daily production meetings as required.
  • Complete all necessary communications for subsequent shifts.
  • Maintain and update team performance boards.
  • Monitor inventory availability and report shortages to the relevant process owner.
  • Organize workforce based on skills, capabilities, and the nature of work.
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks to ensure a balanced workload.
  • Communicate and track urgent customer requests.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to eliminate safety and quality issues.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the work area to ensure compliance with Lean Production Management System standards.
  • Conduct weekly audits for 5S, quality, safety, and processes.
  • Disseminate safety alerts as necessary.
  • Schedule and ensure adherence to the area’s 5S maintenance plan.
  • Attend and report at daily operational meetings.
  • Update and maintain the area’s cross-training matrix.
  • Provide guidance, training, and re-training to new, current, or reassigned employees.
  • Act as the primary contact for new hires in the area; assign a mentor as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

  • Ability to adhere to established methods and procedures while performing tasks accordingly.
  • Capability to work efficiently under time constraints for extended periods to meet production requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading production sheets and blueprints.
  • Effective communication skills with supervisors and colleagues in both written and verbal formats, typically acquired through high school education or equivalent.
  • Job-specific skills and safe operating practices are developed through on-the-job and classroom training.
  • General instructions are provided for recurring tasks, while detailed guidance is given for new responsibilities.
  • Willingness to pursue Yellow Belt certification.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: 0-2 years
Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective team-building capabilities, basic computer skills
Travel: Less than 10%
