Position Summary:
This role involves thorough cleaning and sanitizing tasks at a high performance level within a long-term care environment. The responsibilities include adhering to mandated procedures established by health authorities to ensure a clean, infection-free, and visually appealing atmosphere throughout the facility. Duties encompass decontaminating various surfaces in patient areas, including resident rooms and restrooms, performing general cleaning in offices and communal spaces, and executing a comprehensive range of floor care tasks, which include applying finishes and caring for carpets. The position requires the use of disinfectants, specialized cleaning agents, and equipment, including power tools.
This role is distinct from others due to the routine nature of the tasks, the specialized work involved, the potential exposure risks typical in healthcare settings, and the necessity to perform duties in a dynamic environment characterized by ongoing interactions among residents, families, and staff.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Fundamental understanding of cleaning techniques, materials, and tools.
- Capacity to learn the specific applications of assigned equipment and cleaning solutions.
- Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written directives.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, facility personnel, residents, and their families.
- Physical capability to use hands effectively, remain standing for extended periods, and perform tasks that involve bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting at least 40 pounds.
