Laborer/Field Service Technician I

Clean Harbors, a leading provider of environmental, energy, and industrial services, is seeking a skilled Laborer/Field Service Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our safety-conscious team, you will be responsible for performing tasks associated with hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
Key Responsibilities- Health and Safety: Ensure that health and safety is the top priority by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Physical Labor: Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects, to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
- Equipment Operation: Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration-producing tools to perform tasks safely and effectively.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear and properly use a variety of PPE, including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection, in multiple combinations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Weather Conditions: Work in various temperatures, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
- Chemical and Physical Agents: Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive.
- Noise Levels and Confined Spaces: Work in potentially elevated noise levels and confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance, to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
- Elevations and Ladders: Work at elevations, including working from ladders and scaffolding, to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
- Field Sampling and Calibration: Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters to ensure accurate and reliable data.
- Truck and Tank Operations: Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
- Extended Work Periods: Work extended periods, exceeding 8 hours, to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
- Compliance and Safety Meetings: Attend all compliance and safety update meetings to ensure awareness of changing regulations and best practices.
- Drum Inspection and Waste Loading: Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance, and safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Waste Stream Sampling and Profiling: Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary to ensure accurate and reliable data.
- Regulatory Compliance: Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Vehicle Operations: Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Corporate Operating Guidelines: Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Environmental Health and Safety: Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned, including being on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
- Reliable Transportation: Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Physical Abilities: Possess the ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
- Emergency Response: Agree to be on call for emergency response situations, which can extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12-24 hours.
- Background Check and Physical: Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, as required by the position.
- Respiratory Protection: Meet facial hair standards per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR, to ensure safe and effective use of respirators.
- Previous Labor Experience: Possess previous relevant labor experience to excel in this role.
