Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educational Specialist II to join our team at Baltimore City Public Schools. This role will play a critical part in supporting the planning, development, and implementation of district-sponsored summer programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and management of summer programs across all high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools.
  • Assist schools in ensuring that district-funded programs meet state and district requirements.
  • Consult with schools to help manage their individual summer program plans.
  • Support the setup of program schedules, course additions, material ordering, and teacher recruitment.
  • Develop and update family-facing materials, including flyers, applications, and website content.
  • Collaborate with partners and vendors to identify quality practices and resources.
  • Design professional development to support teaching and learning in the district.
Essential FunctionsDuring the School Year:
  • Evaluate previous year's summer programming.
  • Develop comprehensive summer work plans.
  • Support the development of operation plans for district-run programs.
  • Support planning and development of district-sponsored school-based summer offerings.
  • Develop and update family-facing materials.
  • Develop recruitment materials for summer job offerings.
  • Support hiring of all summer program staff.
  • Provide professional learning for staff participating in summer events.
During Summer:
  • Support day-to-day management and oversight of district-operated and funded programs.
  • Support day-to-day implementation and management of district-sponsored school-based summer offerings.
  • Lead and manage summer program learning walks, collect feedback, and follow up with programs.
  • Support responses to parents, schools, and student inquiries.
  • Support and manage summer payroll and compile mandatory staff worklogs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) with applicable endorsement.
  • Three years of teaching experience, including experience in teaching, managing, and supporting summer programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver professional development.
  • Knowledge of standards and current curriculum framework.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that ensure effective teambuilding and understanding.
  • Ability to provide training and instruction to teachers, staff, and administrators.
  • Proficient in technical computer applications.
