Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties:
- Collaborate with aerospace, spaceflight, and semiconductor industries to devise manufacturing solutions for intricate components.
- Interpret engineering documentation and engage with both internal and external stakeholders to accurately develop and finalize designs.
- Transform concepts from 2D representations into 3D models.
- Design both standard and bespoke tooling solutions.
- Utilize SolidWorks and MasterCam software to create tooling and process designs for production.
- Produce precise drawings for custom tools and fixtures, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Facilitate timely delivery of drawings for client approval.
- Engage directly with clients to review, refine, and validate designs while supporting the production team throughout the tooling process.
- Provide constructive feedback to engineering teams regarding component enhancements for improved manufacturability.
Additional Level 3 Responsibilities:
- Enhance the integration of SolidWorks with CAM programming through SolidWorks outputs or third-party CAM software.
- Mentor new or existing designers and serve as a resource for inquiries.
- Act as a design reviewer for the processes developed by fellow engineers.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Essential Skills:
- Expertise in SolidWorks and 3D modeling, with advanced proficiency in MasterCam.
- Strong conceptual design visualization capabilities and effective communication of complex ideas.
- Proficient problem-solving skills, focusing on straightforward solutions to intricate challenges.
- Solid mechanical design aptitude, capable of developing intermediate to complex multi-part assemblies.
- Understanding of ASME print reading and GD&T principles.
- Experience in quality control through design review.
- Proficient with computer systems and file management.
- General knowledge of material properties, machinability, and finishes is advantageous.
- A Manufacturing Associate Degree or equivalent is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
