Position Overview

Genesis10 is seeking a Financial Governance Manager for our client in the utilities sector. This role is a long-term contract opportunity.


Role Responsibilities:

The Financial Governance Manager will oversee and manage the processes associated with operational expenditure (OpEx) financials for the Technology division.

This encompasses the supervision of monthly financial reporting, annual budget planning cycles, cost management, vendor payments, and regulatory compliance.


Key Duties:
  • Lead the Financial Governance team to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly close and financial reporting activities, including accruals, variance analyses, and projections.
  • Examine financial and operational data to derive insights and make informed recommendations.
  • Develop the annual OpEx plan for Technology, aligning it with the strategic objectives and guidelines of the organization.
  • Collaborate with Financial Support to prepare and disseminate monthly consolidated financial reports and the annual plan for the Technology Management Committee.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments to Technology vendors, maintaining proper transaction records in the financial statements.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly SOX controls with precision and timeliness.
  • Review contracts and statements of work, assigning appropriate accounting classifications.
  • Communicate priorities effectively with team members to guarantee project completion within established timelines, ensuring clarity and quality in deliverables.
  • Assess existing processes for opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies and guidelines, including GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare financial information for regulatory filings and rate case proceedings, including witness testimony and responding to requests for information.
  • Evaluate intangible assets quarterly, identifying those that require retirement, and complete the corresponding SOX controls.
  • Provide leadership in financial training initiatives for Technology personnel and contractors.
  • Foster strong relationships with key business partners.
  • Adhere to all procedures, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: A college degree in accounting or finance is essential. CPA or MBA credentials are preferred.

Experience: A proven financial leader with a minimum of five years of experience managing diverse financial teams; ten years of experience is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, invoice management, and SOX compliance is required.

Skills: A broad understanding of various technologies and information tools currently utilized. Business-focused and results-oriented, with the ability to lead diverse teams involved in various technical aspects of accounting and technology. Strong communication, judgment, and decision-making skills are essential, along with excellent presentation and organizational abilities for collaborative work environments.


Work Environment:

This position operates in a hybrid work setting, requiring three days in the office, with the potential for up to 5% travel.


Success Metrics:

Success in this role will be measured by the accurate reflection of financial impacts from Technology transactions in actual results and projections, the ability to lead teams to achieve organizational goals, and the timely completion of all financial reporting and planning activities.
