Overview

The Financial Governance Manager is tasked with overseeing and managing the operational expenditure (OpEx) financial processes within the Technology division. This role encompasses the supervision of monthly financial reporting, annual budget formulation, cost management, vendor payments, and compliance support.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Leading the Financial Governance team to ensure:
  • Timely and accurate completion of monthly financial close and reporting activities, including accruals, variance analysis, and forecasts.
  • Conducting thorough analysis of financial and operational data to derive insights and formulate recommendations.
  • Formulating the annual OpEx budget for Technology, aligning with corporate strategies and guidelines.
  • Collaborating with financial support teams to prepare and disseminate consolidated financial reports and annual plans for the organization.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments while maintaining proper recording of all transactions in financial statements.
  • Executing monthly and quarterly SOX compliance controls punctually and accurately.
  • Reviewing contracts and statements of work to assign appropriate accounting classifications.
  • Organizing and communicating priorities effectively to ensure project completion within established timelines and quality standards.
  • Assessing existing processes for opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring adherence to financial policies and GAAP guidelines.
  • Providing financial data for regulatory filings and rate case proceedings, including preparation for witness testimony and responding to requests for information.
  • Conducting quarterly reviews of intangible assets to identify those for retirement and completing the necessary SOX controls.
  • Creating and facilitating financial training programs for Technology personnel and contractors.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Adhering to all established procedures, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in accounting or finance is essential; CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience: A proven financial leader with at least five years of experience managing diverse financial teams; ten years of experience is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, invoice management, and SOX compliance is required.
  • Skills:
  • A broad understanding of current technologies and information tools utilized within the organization.
  • A business-oriented mindset with a focus on results.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams involved in various technical aspects of finance and technology.
  • Capability to guide teams, committees, and councils comprising members from various departments.
  • Adept at understanding the overarching objectives of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make informed decisions.

Exceptional presentation and organizational skills are necessary for effective collaboration.

  • Hybrid work model with a requirement of three days in the office.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.

  • Accurate reflection of the financial impact of Technology transactions in actual results and forecasts.
