Job Summary:

The Academic Technology Specialist position at Duke Health is a key role in supporting the instructional design and technology needs of faculty and staff. This position works closely with the Manager for Educational Technology Services to provide expertise in learning management systems, instructional design, and technology trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with faculty to design and develop online courses using Canvas LMS
  • Provide training and support for faculty and staff on LMS functions and site maintenance
  • Assist with the development of course site templates and implement new academic software applications and tools
  • Collaborate with the technical team to test and document new learning management systems
  • Work with faculty, students, and staff to identify innovative uses of technology in teaching and learning

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with experience in instructional design and Canvas LMS administration
  • Strong understanding of learning management systems and other tools used in teaching
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
