CPI is seeking a highly skilled Preservation Services Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in preserving Colorado's rich history and cultural heritage.
Job Summary:The Preservation Services Director will be responsible for providing technical assistance to communities statewide, working with property owners, nonprofit organizations, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide preservation services, including grant writing, grant administration, and project planning. This position will cultivate, develop, and manage projects for CPI, ensuring the organization's preservation goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and manage preservation projects statewide, including those already under contract with CPI.
- Provide grant writing services on behalf of CPI for perspective applicants, including private property owners, nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and other entities.
- Provide preservation technical assistance as needed, including guidance on preservation strategies and approaches.
- Manage community outreach initiatives, including project cultivation and partnership development.
- Review, prepare, and submit grant applications to appropriate organizations and foundations, develop project budgets and scopes of work, and complete all submittals and deliverables.
- Pursue, secure, and manage project administration for CPI's Preservation Services Department, including tracking monthly financials and invoicing for each project.
- Collaborate with staff and organizational initiatives, including assistance in planning CPI's preservation trainings, preparing articles for the organizational newsletter, and representing the organization at outreach meetings and events.
- BA in Historic Preservation, History, Public History, or a related field required; MA in Historic Preservation preferred.
- Grant writing experience or the equivalent.
- Knowledge of historic preservation methods, procedures, and the ability to interpret and implement the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation.
- Historic Preservation tax credit experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Colorado history preferred.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without direct supervision.
- Demonstrate an ability to develop creative solutions in difficult and complex situations and assemble innovative partnerships.
- Architectural and/or construction experience preferred.
