University Hospitals is proud to operate a fully accredited laboratory, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and innovative technologies to conduct over 1 million tests annually. Our laboratory holds accreditation from the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks.

This facility functions as a generalist community hospital lab, where the selected candidate will be expected to perform various tasks across different laboratory sections as necessary.

Role Responsibilities

The individual will execute high and moderate complexity testing at a foundational level.

General Requirements

  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.
  • Adheres to all institutional policies and standards.

  • Must comply with all regulations to securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies are established to ensure the appropriate handling of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology or
  • Bachelor's Degree in biological or chemical sciences is required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies and quality standards is essential.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills is required.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Certification as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT-ASCP) or Medical Lab Technologist (MT) or equivalent is preferred; must be obtained within one year of employment.

Additional Certifications

  • Specific CLIA '88 certification is required for performing complexity testing.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Regular stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Constant hand-eye coordination and repetitive motions.
  • Continuous talking, hearing, and feeling.
