Supervisor Technical Pathology Position

The MetroHealth System is seeking a skilled Technical Pathology Supervisor to oversee the efficient operation and effective supervision of assigned areas within Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology. The ideal candidate will create an optimal environment for all phases of laboratory operations, including efficient sample processing, accurate/timely performance of laboratory testing, monitoring inventory, maintaining adequate supplies, and optimizing resource utilization.
Responsibilities:
• Ensures the efficient operation and effective supervision of assigned area(s) within Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
• Creates an optimal environment for all phases of laboratory operations, including efficient sample processing, accurate/timely performance of laboratory testing, monitoring inventory, maintaining adequate supplies, and optimizing resource utilization.
• Provides training and orientation to staff, students, and residents as necessary.
• Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Requirements:
• Registered Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent registration.
• Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science Degree in related field.
• Five years of laboratory bench experience as a Laboratory Technologist with a minimum of three years of experience in Hematology, Chemistry, or other relevant areas.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Supervisory experience.
• Problem solving and analytical troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements:
• May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
• See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
• Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
