Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instructor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in a correctional education setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop curriculum for basic skills, literacy, and High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) subject areas to incarcerated students.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors to develop innovative curricula aligned with adult education standards.
  • Maintain student and program records for reporting purposes.
  • Act as a liaison between the correctional institution, education department, and Kirkwood Community College.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Corrections security protocols and policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant instructional experience.
  • Ability to pass the ASP security clearance and graduate from the four-week Department of Corrections Training Academy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior corrections, adult education, K-12 instructional experience, corporate training, higher education instruction, or at-risk teaching experience.
