Job Summary:

The Student Assistant performs a variety of administrative duties to support the daily operations of the college. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining confidentiality, and performing tasks related to job responsibilities and departmental projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Provides administrative support to multiple individuals or customers, including receiving and logging information, making copies, sorting and distributing mail, preparing correspondence or basic documents, and answering routine questions and inquiries.
  • Office Operations: Operates a variety of office equipment, such as a personal computer, printer, photocopier, facsimile, scanner, or calculator, and maintains and files department documents.
  • Communication: Assists with distribution of information to the public, students, and faculty by phone, mail, or other appropriate means, and maintains good relationships with the public, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Confidentiality: Maintains confidentiality of all records and databases associated with assigned area.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Student Status: Must be a currently enrolled Lone Star student pursuing a course of study.

Working Conditions:

  • Equipment: PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
  • Interface: Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Work Environment: Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.

Salary and Benefits:

Hourly Pay Rate is $11.32 - $14.55. Benefits include a supportive, collegial work environment, excellent work/life balance, and more.
