Financial Aid Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Aid Specialist to join our team at GeorgiaGov. As a key member of our Student Affairs Division, you will play a critical role in providing information and support to prospective and enrolled students regarding state and federal financial assistance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide information and guidance to students and families on financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, and student loans.
- Coordinate and manage financial assistance programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date student financial aid records.
- Stay current with changes in financial aid laws, regulations, and policies, and apply this knowledge to ensure compliance and optimal student outcomes.
- Supervise and support part-time staff or student employees as needed.
- Associate's degree and three years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex financial aid regulations and policies.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis in business, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with the BANNER Student Information System and/or two or more years of direct financial aid experience.
- Knowledge of federal regulations and direct loans, with a preference for experience with verification and federal regulations.
This is a full-time benefited position, with a salary commensurate with education and experience. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays and evenings. Flexibility and a strong work ethic are essential for this role.
