Job Title: Echocardiograph Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Echocardiograph Technologist to join our team at the Government of the Virgin Islands. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing technical work involving the operation of photographic equipment to record oscilloscopic screening pictures.

Responsibilities:
  • Position patients in a recumbent or left lateral position.
  • Apply transducers to the part of the body under study.
  • Interpret oscilloscopic patterns and compare with known normal anatomy structures.
  • Produce accurate tracings to recognize serious problems and interpret results.
  • Formulate questions before administering examinations to ensure clinically useful results.
  • Operate photographic equipment to record oscilloscopic screen pictures.
  • Prepare photographic slides for permanent record and teaching purposes.
  • Conduct conferences with staff physicians to review findings and obtain pertinent information.
  • Assist in teaching physicians and technologists how to operate equipment and perform examinations.
  • Operate treadmills for diagnosis or functional assessment of patients with cardiac disease.
  • Explain procedures to patients and obtain informed consent.
  • Prepare skin for electrode placement, attach electrodes, and record baseline electrocardiograms.
  • Measure blood pressures, record heart rates, and calculate double products.
Requirements:
  • Two years of academic study with at least 12 semester hours in scientific subjects such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology, or physics.
  • Two years of work experience in a related field.
  • At least six semester hours directly related to echocardiography technology.
  • National registration and certification by the American Society of Echocardiography.
