Job Summary

The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of training and development programs for a large state agency or institution. This role involves assessing the need for training programs, researching material, and developing courses or identifying sources of training. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, business administration, or a related field, and experience in course development, conducting training sessions, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the need for training programs and research material to develop courses or identify sources of training
Make arrangements for and coordinate training programs conducted by others, including scheduling sessions, arranging for facilities, and notifying participants
Develop and present training programs in areas of specialization, including developing lesson plans, training aids, and post-training evaluations
Provide information, advice, and assistance to other agency personnel or program providers in training program development, sources of instructional material or instructors, and other information as required
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by conducting follow-up assessments of the assimilation of training into the workplace

Requirements

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in education, business administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in course development, conducting training sessions, or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.

Work Environment

This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agency programs, policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as knowledge of staff development techniques and training practices.
