Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Operations Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods and materials across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Operations: Drive state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pick up large items, including furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Manage the receipt, inspection, and distribution of packages and materials in the warehouse and mailroom.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, advise management on reorders, and receive and process refill orders.
  • Assembly and Installation: Assemble and install furniture and equipment ordered by and delivered to customers.
  • Disaster Response: Function as a member of the Regional Disaster Deployment Team, delivering, setting up, and monitoring emergency equipment to disaster areas.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, including safe cargo loading and unloading methods. Skill in operating motor vehicles, managing multiple priorities, and using standard agency computer hardware and software.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50 pounds, and perform basic building maintenance or repair.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, peers, and managers.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to travel locally and across the state, which may include overnight stays. The successful candidate will be required to work in a variety of environments, both inside and outside, and may be exposed to extreme temperatures, weather conditions, and physical demands.
