Position Overview:
The role of the Kennel Assistant is crucial in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for the animals under our care. This position involves a range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure cleanliness throughout the facility, including the kennel area, treatment rooms, and outdoor spaces.
  • Provide appropriate feeding for hospitalized and boarding animals.
  • Observe and document vital information regarding the animals' health and behavior.
  • Conduct regular walks for the animals, ensuring their physical activity needs are met.
  • Report any unusual medical or behavioral issues to the veterinary staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness in treatment, examination, surgical, and laboratory areas on a daily basis.
  • Manage laundry duties and keep the laundry area organized.
  • Assist veterinary staff with animal handling and treatment procedures.
  • Oversee kennel inventory, including food and cleaning supplies.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the clinic's operations and enhance client service.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication abilities and sound judgment in stressful situations.
  • Physical capability to lift over 50 lbs and manage a fast-paced work environment.
  • Previous experience in a kennel or animal care setting is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay range is $10-$13 per hour, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include discounted veterinary care, educational assistance for veterinary technician programs, and access to a vast network of veterinary professionals.
