Urology Physician Assistant Job Description

About the Role:

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled Urology Physician Assistant to join our team. As a Urology Physician Assistant, you will work in an ambulatory setting, providing exceptional patient care and collaborating with urologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with urological conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activities.
  • Obtain and document health history, perform and document physical exam, and order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Provide counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment.
  • Collaborate with physician(s) to provide appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice.
  • Collect, organize, record, and discuss data as appropriate and use sound clinical judgment based in best practice standards and evidenced-based medicine.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals according to patient needs and conduct appropriate patient follow-up & outreach.
  • Ensure timely retrieval of laboratory and ancillary studies and diagnostic consultation reports.
  • Consult with appropriate internal and external staff to make appropriate referrals for acute, chronic, and preventive care.
  • Coordinate patient care and visits with appropriate clinical and non-clinical staff.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in nursing.
  • National Certification in Advanced Practice and current CPR certification.
  • Current State of CT APRN license with prescriptive authority and current DEA number.
  • 2 years of experience (urology preferred).
  • Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate.
  • Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in other languages – highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to patients of all ages.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks with full autonomy.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including experience with medical software (Epic).
  • Ability to adhere to HHC MG policies and standards of service as well as HIPAA requirements, OSHA regulations, and Infection Control standards.
  • Communicates tactfully and effectively and demonstrates a commitment to superior patient care.
  • Exhibits strong personal initiative and proactively acts to achieve goals beyond what is required or assigned.
  • Displays courtesy and helpfulness when interacting with all internal and external customers.
