Parts Technician I

Position Overview:
The Parts Technician I is responsible for providing essential counter service to municipal personnel requiring parts and equipment for their operational tasks. This role involves assisting with inventory oversight, data entry within inventory management systems, and delivering excellent customer service. Additionally, the Parts Technician I may be required to operate a company vehicle for parts procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service Excellence:
Deliver high-quality service, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to established procedures and safety protocols. Responsibilities include greeting customers, verifying requisition forms for completeness, addressing inquiries about parts availability, and notifying customers when requested items are in stock. - Parts Procurement:
Occasionally drive to designated locations to acquire parts, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided to vendors. Review invoices for accuracy regarding pricing and quantities before returning items to the company. - Data Management:
Assist in generating invoices for customer requisitions and entering vendor receiving documents into the inventory system. - Inventory Control:
Participate in weekly inventory cycle counts and assist during comprehensive inventory assessments. - Additional Duties:
Follow established vehicle and equipment maintenance guidelines, provide emergency support as needed, and assist with inventory research projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of computer experience.
- Availability for 24-hour support.
- Valid Driver's License with at least two years of driving experience.
- 1 year of experience with automotive or heavy-duty truck components.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current COVID-19 vaccination.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves medium work, requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Essential physical activities include driving, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, and walking.
Work Environment:
While the majority of tasks are performed in an office setting, some responsibilities may take place in storerooms and warehouses, which could have variable temperatures and conditions. Travel to various sites in a vehicle is also expected.
