Job Summary

A highly skilled Trades Mechanic III is sought to perform advanced maintenance and repair activities in various trades fields, including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings, as well as experience with estimating costs, time, and materials for projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative routine and complex maintenance repairs on interior and exterior building structures, fixtures, and appurtenances, as well as heavy-duty structural and mechanical equipment and HVAC systems.
  • Restore and renovate facilities, bridges, and historical buildings, including building partitions, shelving, and renovating furniture and equipment.
  • Recommend referral of jobs beyond financial or capability limits to private contractors.
  • Maintain and repair compressor, pumps, hydraulic lifts, treatment and disposal plants, and operate and maintain HVAC systems and complex plumbing projects.
  • Operate and maintain life safety devices, such as sprinkler systems.
  • Oversee the work of skilled, semi-skilled maintenance, and laboring personnel in performing specific assignments or in a training situation.
  • Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on assignments, and secure materials and supplies through established procedures.
  • Perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance, as needed.
Requirements
  1. Six months of experience in operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, hand, and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
  2. Six months of experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields, such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
  3. Six months of experience in record keeping.
  4. Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
  5. Knowledge of estimating cost, time, and materials for projects.
  6. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Working Conditions

This is a Casual/Seasonal position, which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware Executive Branch participates in the Federal E-Verify system, where the State will provide the federal government with each new hire's Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
