Job Summary

A skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician is needed to perform advanced level maintenance, repair, and restoration activities on structures, systems, and equipment to ensure efficient operation of the physical plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex maintenance repairs on building structures, fixtures, and appurtenances, as well as heavy-duty structural and mechanical equipment and HVAC systems.
  • Restore and renovate facilities, bridges, and historical buildings, and design layouts to optimize space usage.
  • Recommend referrals to private contractors for jobs beyond financial or capability limits.
  • Operate and maintain life safety devices, such as sprinkler systems, and complex plumbing projects.
  • Oversee the work of skilled, semi-skilled maintenance, and laboring personnel in training situations.
  • Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on assignments.
  • Perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance as needed.

Requirements

Applicants must have education, training, and/or experience demonstrating competence in the following areas:

  • Six months of experience in operating and maintaining equipment, hand and power tools, and performing work in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
  • Six months of experience in record keeping and knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
  • Six months of experience in estimating cost, time, and materials for projects.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
