About the Position

This role provides critical support and guidance to international students and scholars at Cal State East Bay. Key responsibilities include managing federal SEVIS reporting requirements, advising students on F-1 regulations and benefits, and ensuring compliance with Department of Homeland Security regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise students on F-1 regulations and benefits, including employment, travel, and change of status.
  • Process student requests and revise relevant information materials.
  • Comply with Department of Homeland Security reporting requirements via SEVIS, including interpreting and transmitting data.
  • Work with the SEVIS Records Coordinator to coordinate issuance of immigration documents and pre-arrival materials for new international students.
  • Assist with international recruitment efforts and provide support for the Visiting Student Program.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of F-1 and J-1 regulations as they pertain to Cal State East Bay students and scholars.
  • Familiarity with SEVIS and ability to utilize the system.
  • Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team within a diverse, multicultural environment.
  • Good oral, written, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations.
Working Conditions

This position requires a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident due to Department of Homeland Security requirements for access to SEVIS.

Satisfactory completion of a background check is required for employment. Cal State East Bay will issue a conditional offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information.
