Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Services Technician to join our team at the Good Samaritan Society. As an Environmental Services Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas. This includes emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.

You will demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment and apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff. You may be responsible for cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.

You will wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines and keep storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. You will also have access to pagers and other technology that you will be responsible to use appropriately when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas

  • Apply knowledge to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff
  • Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards
  • Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines
  • Keep storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
  • Use pagers and other technology appropriately when needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required
