The Director of Marketing and Communications is tasked with crafting, implementing, and refining the marketing and communication strategy that will elevate Wellness House's profile and support our goals for awareness, participant engagement, and donor retention. This role is crucial in ensuring that Wellness House communicates a consistent and impactful message, particularly aimed at attracting new participants and engaging current ones.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership in Marketing and Communications:

  • Stay informed about oncology trends, including diagnoses and survivorship, as well as psycho-oncology developments.
  • Effectively communicate the mission and impact of Wellness House through engaging content tailored for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to translate organizational vision into actionable steps and participate in strategic planning.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive, data-driven marketing and communications strategy with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Guide the team in developing an annual work plan with clear objectives, tracking progress, and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Utilize data analytics to evaluate performance against KPIs, including the recruitment of new participants, and report findings to the CEO.
  • Identify and create initiatives to enhance awareness among potential participants.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms, providing necessary training and support to staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain a strong online and offline presence across various channels, including website, email, social media, and print materials.
  • Oversee content creation to foster engagement, including graphics and copywriting.
  • Approve all external marketing and communication materials.
  • Prepare speeches and key messages for senior staff as needed.
  • Develop and implement a Crisis Communications plan and serve as a media liaison.
  • Assist with proposal writing as required.

Managerial Duties:

  • Foster a positive and productive work environment for all stakeholders.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation with other managers to inform future planning.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Marketing and Communications personnel.
  • Provide professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and job satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to set priorities and review projects.
  • Develop and monitor the Marketing and Communications budget and manage vendor relationships.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality to protect the organization's integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Meetings and Events Participation:

  • Attend all staff and departmental meetings regularly.
  • Participate in leadership team and board meetings as scheduled.
  • Engage in program events to stay informed about Wellness House's offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in non-profit marketing and communications is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in team management is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with digital marketing tools.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
