Job Overview

Position Objective:

Deliver comprehensive eye care services to the community in alignment with the mission and values of Norton Sound Health Corporation, while adhering to the established standards of the optometry profession.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough examinations of patients' eyes to identify vision impairments, diseases, and other irregularities.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications as necessary to address eye health issues.
  • Educate patients on the management and treatment of eye conditions.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

Degree: Doctor of Optometry

Field: Optometry

Experience:

General: 2 years preferred in optometry practice

Supervisory: Not required

Licensure:

Must hold a valid Optometrist license in Alaska.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to use hands and arms for operating clinical equipment.

• Capacity to sit for less than half of the workday.

• Ability to stand and walk for more than half of the workday.

• Capability to bend, stretch, twist, crouch, and reach.

• Prolonged viewing of electronic screens.

• Ability to lift or carry items weighing less than 25 pounds.

• Moderate force required for pushing or pulling.

• Normal visual and auditory acuity.

Work Environment:

• The role is performed in a standard clinical setting, with potential exposure to latex and other hazardous materials.

• Minimal travel may be required, typically less than 25% of the time, using various aircraft.
