Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Process Engineer to join our team at Eastern Wholesale Fence LLC. As an Industrial Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting our manufacturing plant team members in areas of problem-solving, lean and continuous improvement activities, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all Industrial Engineering-related activities in the office and on the production floor are carried out in a safe manner. Identify and address any unsafe practices by employees in any area on the shop floor or in the office.
  • Process Optimization: Support and understand Eastern's manufacturing processes and overall launch responsibility. Complete on-time all deliverables assigned to the Industrial Engineer, including Process Flow Diagrams, Equipment Plans, and Installation, Equipment Qualification, Tooling and Equipment Tryout, Run at Rate, and Operator Work Instructions.
  • Project Management: Assist in preparing project cost estimates, budgets, Returns on Investments (ROIs), and Capx Req as required.
  • Equipment Development: Work with Plant Managers, Facility Tooling, and Equipment Suppliers to develop and build assembly fixtures, assembly aids, or other equipment needed in developing manufacturing cells to manufacture parts.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Drive improvements by implementing lean manufacturing concepts on assigned cells and involving operators, maintenance, and tooling personnel in cell improvements.
  • Work Cell Setup: Ensure that work cells are set up properly and contain the required equipment and information that enables proper numbers of operators to produce products at the assigned run-rate and to the required specifications.
  • Process Documentation: Lead the creation and maintenance of specific process Work Instructions, partnering with the appropriate Manufacturing counterpart(s) to ensure accuracy of process and application of best practice.
  • Quality and Productivity: Participate in quality stand-downs for customer concerns and support teams in implementing permanent corrective actions. Lead and support productivity-enhancing and cost-reducing activities in reducing scrap, downtime reductions, changeover reductions, efficiency improvements, and improvements in repairs using problem-solving tools.
  • Auditing and Training: Assist in audits of the Quality Management System of assigned workstations; includes compliance to existing work Instructions, processes, and forms. Includes internal and customer-driven audits. Train Manufacturing team members and operators on safety devices, manufacturing build processes, standard work, process flow diagrams (PFD), work instructions, problem-solving techniques, workstation layout, information boards, and charting cell metrics.
  • Supplier Interface: Interface with suppliers as needed on processes, productivity, and product improvements.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Three (3) or more years' experience in the relevant manufacturing process(s). Practical, successful experience in work-cell layout. Practical, successful experience in the development of Standard Work. Successful Product Launch/Production Start-up experience including all documentation, testing, data collection, and reporting. Experience leading cost savings and performance improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
  • Abilities: Technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes such as PVC extrusion, fabrication, aluminum rail assembly, welding, and powder coating. Advanced knowledge of Manufacturing Process design and work cell layout. Advanced knowledge and practical application of Problem Solving/Process Improvement analysis, tools, and techniques. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and standard work. Basic computer skills, including PC knowledge and current technology software familiarity. Excellent communication skills - both written and oral. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Ability to regularly stand or walk for long periods of time. Ability to travel (air and ground), 40-50% of time. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling.
