Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Psychiatric

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) Psychiatric to join our team in Malden, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral member of the care delivery team, responsible for supporting the clinical and administrative needs of psychiatry patients. This role requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Creates an authentic healing environment that supports the well-being of patients and their families.
  2. Ensures a seamless patient flow and positive patient experience across the care continuum.
  3. Works directly with prescribers, clinical, and administrative teams to resolve patient issues and concerns.
  4. Prepares, performs, and documents the coordination of clinical care, including assisting patients with insurance and clinical components of paperwork.
  5. Collaborates with other team members on prior authorizations for prescriptions and participates in the medication reconciliation process.
  6. Provides patient education as needed and develops patient education materials in coordination with the department's clinical team.
  7. Follows up on telephone calls and other electronic communication regarding clinical questions.
  8. Participates in patient-centered health-maintenance efforts, including coaching patients towards health and wellness.
  9. Collaborates with attending physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists, community health workers, and other team members as appropriate.
  10. Assists attending physicians and other prescribers in collecting and analyzing validated quality and outcome measure data.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in nursing in Massachusetts.
  • BSN required for newly licensed nurses.
  • 2 years' recent psychiatric experience with a working knowledge of both ambulatory care needs and the inpatient discharge process preferred.
  • Previous psychiatric ambulatory experience with a demonstrated ability to educate patients and families around current treatments and medications preferred.
  • Demonstrates true enthusiasm to provide nursing care for patients and families.
  • Experience working in a large complex healthcare organization.
  • Proven ability to achieve programmatic goals and outcomes demonstrating impeccable organizational skills.
Working Conditions:

The work may require lifting heavy objects and patients and exposure to potentially infectious material. Work requires contact with needles and other sharp instruments, monitoring devices, and other state-of-the-art equipment. Prolonged standing may be required.
