Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Career and Technical Education Teacher to join our team at Alexandria City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, and providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Implementation: Develop and implement district-approved curriculum to meet the needs of students in Career and Technical Education.
  • Teaching and Assessment: Teach students in a variety of educational environments, including classroom, playground, and field trips, to improve their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
  • Student Progress Monitoring: Monitor student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives.
  • Leadership and Management: Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Hold a valid Virginia Department of Education License with an endorsement in Career and Technical Education - Technology Education, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience and Qualifications: Possess experience in instructional planning, curriculum implementation, instruction, and performance assessment, as well as leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with adolescents, parents, business/industry, and community groups.
  • Clearances and Compliance: Obtain and maintain a Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance and Tuberculosis Skin Test, and follow safety and health protocols.
