Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at Sutter Health. As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for integrating knowledge, theory, and practice to execute procedures in assigned areas of Pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain competence in routine histology procedures, including embedding, sectioning, and automated staining, as well as advanced procedures such as immunohistochemistry and histochemical staining.
  • Perform quality assurance tasks, including slide and stain quality control, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Receive, prepare, archive, and retrieve specimens and materials, and prepare and stock department supplies and reagents.
  • Conduct training for routine histology practices and produce frozen sections from specimens.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and technical competence in specimen collection and preparation, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in histology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected time-frames.
  • Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks, demonstrating sound judgment and problem-solving relevant to assigned duties.
  • Culturally competent communication skills, with the ability to compassionately and effectively interact with individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, working nights, with a schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, including weekends. The pay range for this role is $51.69 to $64.60 per hour.
